This is a fantastic affordable recipe that I absolutely love. The best thing about these little dessert bars is that they also go great with coffee in the morning. Who doesn't like coffee with dessert in the morning? I made these without spending a dime using ingredients I already had in my home. These Sugar Bars as my son likes to call them will sure become a family favorite in any home.

Ingredients
Substitutions: I only used ingredients that were in my home so I had to make some substitutions. I used regular light brown sugar instead of the dark brown sugar and I also used Himalayan Pink Salt instead of regular salt. The recipe calls for unsalted butter, but I used two sticks of organic salted butter.
Step #1: Preheat oven to 350º. Take out a 13-by-9-inch metal baking pan and set it aside.
Step #2: In a large mixing bowl add together the butter and sugars. My butter was still frozen so I just put it in the microwave for 3 minutes on the defrost setting.
Step #3: Cream butter and sugars with an electric mixer on high speed until fluffy. Add baking soda, cinnamon, and salt, then mix on low speed to blend. Add eggs and vanilla extract and beat on medium setting. Add flour and mix on low speed until blended.
Step #4: Using a rubber spatula, scrape dough into the pan, smoothing it in an even layer. The layer doesn't have to be perfect. Just make it as even as you can, concentrating on the depth of the dough. Set on the center rack and bake about 30 minutes until lightly golden brown.
Step #5: Take out of the oven and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, if you desire. Let them cool completely and dust with powdered sugar. Cut into bars. This makes about 40 bars.
